Superior College Attendance Policy

Attendance Rules

1.     Attendance is compulsory. If student cannot attend a class session then he/she must immediately inform the College and provide a valid reason for absence and this should be supported by documentary evidence wherever applicable, such as medical certificate and etc.;

2.     The minimum attendance requirement is 80%; the students are also required to adhere to Expected Contact Period rule requirements stipulated by the UKBA;

3.     It is very important for students to be punctual for all lectures. Students who are 30 minutes late may be marked as Late and students who are over 30 minutes late may be refused admission to that teaching session and their attendance will be recorded as absent;

4.     It is the responsibility of the students to keep abreast of changes to the attendance policy.

 

LATENESS

  • Arriving within 15 minutes of the start of the lesson, students will be marked as PRESENT
  • After 16 minutes, up to 30 minutes, students will be marked as LATE
  • After 30 minutes students will be marked ABSENT  and will not be allowed into the lesson
  • 3 LATEs = 1 ABSENT

 

ATTENDANCE WARNING LETTERS

 

First Warning Letter – Sent To Student

This letter will be issued AFTER missing four contact periods (4 consecutive lessons):

  • Remind the student that classes have been missed
  • Remind the student of the importance of attending all classes
  • Request as explanation  as to why classes have been missed
  • Invite the student to contact the College

 

Second Warning Letter- Sent To Student

This letter will be issued AFTER missing six contact periods (6 consecutive lessons):

  • Remind the student that classes have been missed
  • Request an explanation as to why classes have been missed
  • Invite the student to discuss with their programme leader or programme administrator of any problems they might be experiencing that could be the cause of their poor attendance

 

Third Warning Letter- Sent To Student

This letter will be issued AFTER missing ten contact periods (10 consecutive lessons):

  • The student is asked to contact the College as soon as possible to discuss their absences within the next ten working days to avoid termination of his/her registration.

 

In the event that the student does not turn up to attend the classes and does not turn up to meet the programme administrator/registrar, the student will be sent a letter stating that they are ‘assumed to have been withdrawn’. Their record will be amended accordingly and reported to the UKBA immediately.

 

Notification Of Termination Letter

This letter to be issued in the event of any of the followings:

·         Misses ten contact periods / ten consecutive sessions

·         Attendance falls below 80% in the whole semester without reasonable excuses

 

 

Once a student is terminated, NO refund of fees will be made or be allowed to continue with the same cohort.
